Meeting Topic:

The presentation explores the shift toward air cleaning technologies as a viable alternative to traditional dilution ventilation in HVAC systems, addressing energy conservation while meeting mechanical codes and ensuring healthy indoor environments. Attendees will gain insight into recent trends from ASHRAE, practical applications, and methodology to balance energy savings with occupant health and code compliance.

Speaker Bio:

Chris Ahne is the Vice President of Sales for Genesis Air based in Lubbock, Texas.  In 1999, Chris earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas.  He has worked in the HVAC industry for 26 years supporting the design, sale, and installation of HVAC systems. 

Chris has been active in ASHRAE throughout his professional career.  In the local chapter, he served in multiple committees and served as president of the Arkansas Chapter in 2010.   At the Society level for ASHRAE, he served as chair of Handbook Committee, is currently serving as the nominating member for Region VIII, is a member of SPC 145.4P (method of test for air cleaning products with gaseous contaminants), is a voting member of SPC 185.5P (method of test for air cleaning products with microorganisms),  a voting member of TG2.RAST, secretary of TG4.IAQP, and a member of TC 9.13 Space.

Chris participated in leadership of local chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers, is a member of the National Air Filtration Association and holds a certification as a Certified Air Filtration Specialist.

Chris has been married to his wife Jennifer for 23 years, and they have two kids, Kate and Sam, who keep them very busy.  Chris moved to Little Rock from his hometown of Scranton, AR and has lived in Little Rock for 25 years.  In his free time, he enjoys coaching his kids in youth sports, playing golf, working in his yard, and involvement with his church.
